We are proudly Māori owned and operated, built from the ground up
Ka Pai Kai, started by the Morrison whānau, had simple beginnings as a caravan-turned-food truck. Rebecca and Mīharo own Ka Pai Kai and enlist the help of their adult children, Arama and Pania. Ka Pai Kai took its place as a dine-in cafe on Waitangi Day 2013.
The Morrison's have always had a great interest in food, particulary cooking organic and local ingredients to create wonderful dishes enriched with flavors, taking influence from traditional Māori cooking.
Ka Pai Kai also operates with an interest in the whenua (land). The use of biodegradable and compostable packaging and reusable storage solutions means less wastage. Food scraps are sent to a nearby farm owner to lower carbon emissions by rotting food. Any materials are recycled where possible within the appropriate guidelines.
